The
galleries on this website are just a small part
of the many thousands of images in David Courtenay’s
portfolio. David has always relished the
challenge of Wildlife Photography:
"...being at one with
nature, finding, tracking and sometimes baiting
‘your own’ animal. “Getting
to know the animal’s behavior, its habitats
– that’s what motivates me; to be
one to one.”
David spends the majority of his free time studying
and researching his subject; in the field, reference
literature and on the internet.
“The more you know
about the animal you have chosen to photograph,
the more your chances of success”.
David loves to travel to foreign countries and
photograph exotic and more often than not endangered
species, but openly admits that Safari Style photography
is not difficult as you are paying a guide to
‘show’ you the wildlife, you are paying
for their knowledge. It’s local wildlife
that throws up the greatest challenges where you
have to think for yourself, you put in the effort
and reap the rewards.
It can be a selfish, sometimes lonely way of
life but one that can give great rewards and personal
satisfaction, and as nature is such a huge subject
there is always the next challenge to look forward
to…
